Our journalists are true multimedia professionals, ready to hit the ground running in any newsroom. From breaking stories on social media to writing and reading hourly radio news bulletins, filming and editing video stories, they do it all, and so can you.
This isn’t your typical student radio station. At NZBS, students create a commercial radio brand from scratch, learning every part of the process, from on-air roles to behind-the-scenes essentials like branding, marketing, promotions, and client integration. It’s real world and supported by New Zealand's radio industry.
Our screen students don’t wait to get behind the camera, they’re hands-on from the start, working on everything from kids’ shows and music videos to live news and drama. They learn all the behind-the-scenes skills and collaborate across radio and journalism, just like they would in a real production company.
After spending two years on campus, students head into industry for a PAID placement (yes you get paid to be a student and learn on the job). Our success rate of securing work at the end of your placement is over 90%!
